The first things that come in our mind when we talk about Beijing are The Great Wall of China, Alibaba Company, Made in China Products, huge buildings and  factories. The city has so many wonderful historical and beautiful places to visit, for example the Forbidden City, which is the largest and best-preserved ancient architectural complex in the world, the Temple of Heaven where Ming and Qing emperors performed solemn rituals for bountiful harvests, the Summer Palace the emperor’s magnificent garden retreat, and the Ming Tombs which is stately and majestic mausoleums of 13 Ming Dynasty emperors and the wonders of the world genuinely inspiringly of the Great Wall.

Act Global Indonesia is currently working with our partner NGO from  Estonia, Spain, FYROM (Macedonia), Kenya and Cameroon for a project called “Use your creativity, take initiative and be the change!”. This is a capacity building project which consists of 2 parts: youth workers mobility event and European voluntary service (EVS) project. The aim of project is to fight poverty and youth unemployment by developing youth’s creativity and sense of entrepreneurship.

RadioActive EVS in Bali, Indonesia

Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, 1st August to 30th September (1 month per placement) (Closed)

This project has given 8 volunteers from Italy and the UK a chance to volunteer for 1 month in Bali, Indonesia. The project will take place at two different times, first in August and the second in September. During the project volunteers will be asked to make a video and a podcast about a social issue of their choosing. This will then be uploaded to Act Global’s social media outlets as well as though our partner’s website.

RadioActive EVS UK

Leeds, England , 12th to 26th August (Closed)

This project was an opportunity for 3 young people from Indonesia (Ren, Andi and Hendra) to live and volunteer in the UK for 2 weeks. The opportunity gave them the chance to support 2 music festivals, one of these being Leeds festival. During their time they were supporting the festival by helping to clear-up and act as a marshal although they also had loads of time to watch bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age and Macklemore.

Voices of Creativity

Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, Feb to July 2014 (Closed)

Voices of Creativity was a long-term volunteer project working with six countries across Europe, Asia and Africa. This project has been lead by Estonian based NGO Seiklejate Vennaskond who was granted the funding from the European Commission for it’s delivery. The project gave the opportunity to 12 young people from Estonia, Turkey and Spain to volunteer in youth work in Indonesia, Nepal or Mozambique. Their service lasted for 6 months and volunteers worked with children and young people with fewer opportunities in schools and orphanages. In Indonesia 4 young people volunteered in the local community and share the skills and talents over the course of this time.

Developing outdoor education for visually impaired young people

Ključ, Bosnia & Herzegovina, 2nd-8th September 2013 (Young people aged 17-25 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and UK)

This project brought together young people from three different countries for a 7 day international youth exchange project in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The main aim of the project was to support the young people in developing a mutual understanding and empathy towards other cultures as well as teaching the values of outdoor education and a healthy lifestyle. The project brought together young people with and without visual impairments to learn from each other about inclusion and cultural understanding.

Get Inspiration for your Future

Italy (Sardinia), 1st of October 2013 – 30th of September 2014 (Closed)

The project sent Thom from the UK to live and volunteer in Cagliari, Italy for 12 months. The opportunity consisted of various cultural activities, workshops and presentation that shared the benefits of intercultural learning as well as promoting the benefits and opportunities available for other young people from the European Union. The project was an opportunity for 2 young people (Ryan and Tom) to live and volunteer in Baku, Azerbaijan for 10 months. The opportunity consisted of environmental activities, campaigns and presentations, educating the local population about the importance of protecting and maintaining the environment.

Breaking stereotypes via the art of communication

The project brought together young people aged 16 to 25 from 3 countries (Estonia, UK and Ukraine) for 9 days international youth exchange. The project aimed to support young people to develop mutual cooperation while breaking down cultural stereotypes about each others countries.
