Hastings – England

Hastings is a historical coastal town based in the south east coast of England surrounded by hills and with many castles in the area. It is 40 miles east of Brighton and 60 miles south of central London. Hastings is best known for its historical importance in the Battle of 1066 between the Normans and the Saxons. The towns main attraction is the medieval Old Town, where many events take place every year such as the ‘Jack In The Green’, the ‘Seafood and Wine Festival’ and the Bonfire Procession. Hastings holds a certain Victorian English charm, with its narrow passageways, seafront squares, elegant parks and is famous for being a traditional fishing town. Recently Hastings entered The Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the most amounts of pirates in one place. This is now celebrated annually on Pirate day.
