If somebody would tell me few months ago that in October I will move to Bali and i will start „new life here” i would never believe. But appaently this happened to me, i had opportunity to move here for an EVS ( European Voluntary Service) and share my skils with the local people, learn the culture, get to know new people, and adapt to the tottaly new things and start my „new life” for the next 10 months.
Whole process to get to this project was pretty long, i applied at the beggining of June and the finall results i got in September. For the whole summer there was few levels of recrutation, talks with organisations, skype interwiews, face to face interview, and the end skype talk with HO (hosting organisation) by skype From Poland to Bali. Everything very exciting. When i get the final results i couldnt believe that this is really happening… i said to my Mom … „ Mom seems like I’m moving to Bali for the next 10 months” .. and it was when the whole craziness started…
Untill i get on the plane I didnt really realise that this is whole real, and I’m just about to leave my familly and freinds for almost 1 year…
Packing process was terible, i had no idea what to take. I was leaving already in another country, i did it already, but this one was really though. So at the end i tok few pairs of jean shorts, few summer tops, one sweter, one jumpper, some dancing clothes, sandals, sneakers n LET’S GO !
Travel was long. Warsaw —> Switzerland —> Singapore —> Bali all took about 30h, but when i arrved i didnt even feel tired! Just so excited !
Heat killed me already at the airport haha, i was sweating without even moving my body!!! Guys from our HO picked us up and apparently the rest of volunteers were on the same flight lol, se we meet eachother at the airport 🙂 2 Polish, 2 French, 3 Italian. Thats the crew for the next 10 months. First look on our house was good :)! it looked really nice, so traditional, with the patio outside and lezard on the sealing hehe.
First week we had „ On arrival trening”. Getting to know eachother, all important informations about the culture, about health care, insurance, emergency calls, conflicts managment etc etc. With the Jet Lag it was prety hard to adapt but after 1 week it was better. Our HO took us for a Bali Day trip, which was so much fun !! We went to Ubut to the monkey forset, we went to see the rice fields, Gunung Kawi and Tirta Empul Temples. I saw so many amazing ans beautifull landscapes that before i could see ony on TV or Interent. Since then i get amazed about this place.
Time pass and the life gets more „ normal” but i dont think that there will be a day when i wont be suprised of something hehe. 2nd weekend there was big dance event called Raw Materials, this is when i meet a lot if people, and local dancers. The energy was so dope that i cant even explain that. I was a lil bit like a stranger and i feel like those people just let me in to their community, this feels really good. The week 3 i started to delivering my own project. I want to share my passion with the local kids. At the beggining this thing was so normal n random to me. Like in Europe everybody can join the dance school and everybody can basicly do what they want. But not here. After few weeks i started realising that teaching dancing is not the only thing i will do here. ‘What’s dope about hip hop, is that you can literally carry it with you anywhere and give it to others, passing on to them an energy and vibe, literally giving them a new way to express parts of themselves maybe they were not able to express before. Giving them a new language with which to speak’. So i hope to share with them my life n my passion.
Feelin like on the mission here hehe… we’ll see how it will go 😉
