Best Practice in Youth Club Development

Consultancy work

Various locations in Kyrgyzstan, 18th Feb to 26th of Mar 2013 ()

The project was to support Unicef funded youth centres across the country in developing a marketing plan on how to engage more young people. Act Global also supported Youth Centre staff to learn and understand more about the youth work and youth centre management.

The Act Global team was based in Kyrgyzstan for 5 weeks consultancy work to support Unicef funded youth centres across the country in developing a marketing plan on how to engage more young people. Act Global also supported Youth Centre staff to learn and understand more about the youth work and youth centre management.

Most of the centres supported were in Southern Kyrgyzstan in the districts of Osh and Jalal-Abad. Unicef created youth centres in these areas as a response to the ethnic violence that erupted in the area in 2010. Many young people were engaged in violent and criminal activity, so the centres aimed to give the young people a place to go. Facilitators were also trained in conflict mismanagement education. However, some of the youth centres are engaging low levels of the community and only have basic knowledge on youth work methodology. Act Global’s role was to help address this.

The project concluded with each centre presenting their marketing plan and discussing their strategy for the future.

This project was funded by USAid, Administered by IRG, delivered by Act Global.
