Raising environmental awareness in Eastern Europe and Caucasus region

Training Course

Bakuriani, Georgia, 23rd-30th March 2014 (Participants from Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and the UK)

This project was designed for young leaders and youth workers from 7 countries. All participants had special interest in environmental issues, sustainable development and raising a level of general knowledge on ecological challenges in their countries. The course was supported by our partner countries (Belarus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and the UK) and took place in Bakuriani, Georgia, a mountain resort, where participants experienced nature and investigate local community eco-awareness.

For six days, twenty-eight participants raised their eco-awareness while learning current environmental issues and how to transfer this knowledge to their own communities.

These are the specific objectives for the project:

  • Deepen the participants understanding on the importance of environmental awareness among young people and their communities
  • Raise participants knowledge on specific issues recognised as threats to the natural environment and increase awareness about sustainable development
  • Develop specific knowledge on how to protect the natural environment in daily life
  • Learn how to transfer the acquired knowledge and skills to their local communities
